How to play: Undead Gameplay
So you may be asking yourself, "Ok great, I know Undead is obviously awesome, but how do I play, what are my objectives?"
Well, look no further! you have come to the right place! (Although you may want to discuss varying strategies in the 'Undead' channel on the N.A. server in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty.)
The basic concept is that the Survivors run and hide, and the Undead has to find them, similar to Cat N Mouse. If the Undead loses its hero, survivors win, and if survivors have no Civilians left it is a win for the Undead!

SurvivorThe most common faction you will play will be the survivor, this is because there are seven of them, as opposed to one undead :). The survivor is probably a good place to start of at, because the Undead takes a bit of game knowledge and skill.
In overview, the Survivor is pretty terrible by him/herself generally speaking. Therefore it is a good idea to base with someone, unless told not to by that person. The Terran Survivors have a unique spawning system, where the shop is at the top left of the map. To buy a unit, you simply put your FEMALE civilian into the corresponding region as to which unit you wish to purchase. Depending on your bank account, your unit will spawn at your Civilian on the map. Helpful Tip 1: To buy units constantly, you can set your female civilian to patrol in and out of the region of the unit you wish to buy. Because the Undead is such a strong force, you are not able to go on the offensive, unless your team is really ahead. If you do go on the offensive, and don't base up and defend, you can possibly 'feed' the Undead. The Undead gets gas for kills, to buy upgrades/unlocking more units. So by 'feeding' the Undead, you are letting it get upgrades, which will likely break your team-mates and lose you the game. In summary, the survivor is basically the mouse in a Cat 'N' Mouse hunt. However the survivor fights back by hiding at first and basing up to attempt to create an impenetrable base. |
UndeadThe Undead at the start, start off with just a hero, which is chosen by the player.
Infested Marine: Has: Psionic Storm - Crushes units that are not bunkered - yes, even your own. Chrono Rift - greatly slows (movement and weapon speed) units in the AOE . Neutralise (neutralises bunkers for 20 seconds) Zealot: Has: Cloak - great for killing bases without missile turrets. Graviton Prism - lifts escaping units. Rage - you lose control of your zealot, but he becomes far more powerful - lasts 10 seconds Phase Disruption - Zealot alters the atmosphere around him, making him invulnerable to all attacks, but cannot attack while activated. Clone - creates a fake Zealot to be a meatshield. Clones only last 30 seconds before they fade away. The Undead has to hunt down the Survivors. You have to strike quickly and with overwhelming numbers to kill off the survivors and quickly as you can. In the Early game, your hero is a really strong unit, and can with-stand most attacks, so you use your hero to tank damage- but be careful, because if it dies, you lose! Helpful Tip 2: As Undead you can spawn over the walls when your hero is nearby them. This is great for sneaking into backs of bases. As Undead you get Gas for kills and 5 gas for killing the civilians. Use your starting gas wisely, and break out as fast as you can. |
